As per 23 of September the launching tests of the new light packaging treatment plant of Mercia have been started. This plant is owned and will by operated by Mercia Waste Management, a Joint Venture participated by Spanish multinationals Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC) and Urbaser. It is foreseen that online operations of waste processing will start beginning of november 2009.

The plant will start processing up to 55.000 tons of recyclable materials, but it has been conceived and designed for the treatment and recycling of up to 120.000 tons of plastics, paper, carboad, metals and glass an it integrated the most state of the art technologies for waste processing and sorting.
