The Department of Environment of the Canary Islands Government will install a shredding unit for bulky waste in Las Palmas, for which 328,680 EUR will be invested and which will be handed by the Autonomous Department to the Local Authority for its operation.
The Official Bulletin of Canary Islands (BOC) has published the announcement made by the General Management for Environmental Quality of the Autonomous Executive Council regarding the award for the instalment of this new equipment, which will be carried out by Masias Recycling SL.
The contract involves the supply and start-up of a shredding unit for bulky waste so as to assure an appropriate pretreatment of the bulky elements that are brought to the island waste treatment plants. The project is co-financed by the European Funds for Regional Development (FEDER) and is a step forward to the Autonomous Executive Council's aim to equip all islands with the necessary resources for the management and treatment of waste according to the Waste Treatment Plan of the Canary Islands (PIRCAN).
