In February 1941, Esmeragdo Masias Vidal founded the Company called “Talleres Masias”, starting its activity with the production of card ranges, highly benefited from the fact that the company was in a region with a major influence of the textile sector.

The company became a public limited company in 1968 with Jordi Masias Trías as the Managing Director, experimenting an important growth; the supply scope continued to grow and the company started to implement marketing campaigns and export goods. The latter was focused on the Western European and North African countries during the first phase and Latin America during subsequent phases.

During the seventies, the company started to manufacture a new line of fibre preparation machinery in the carding machinery construction sector. The said line included installations used to open, mix and clean fibres.

At the beginning of the eighties, the company consolidated its operations and integrated new R&D technologies. The manufacturing lines expanded to the carding of synthetic fibres, wool, non-fabric and regenerated fibre, including fibre preparation lines. Exports were channelled to the Eastern European countries. During this decade, the company broke up the commercial division from the manufacturing business and created Masias Maquinaria, S.A., a company solely dedicated to the exporting activity.

In 1990, Masias Maquinaria developed a new line of production for the manufacturing of bedding, in addition to the fibre mix weighing systems. Exports were expanded to the North American market.

In 1992, the company took full advantage of the synergies generated by the machinery manufacturing activities and the development capacity of the Technical Office, starting a new line of activity within the environmental technology and recycling systems sector.
To adequately channel this new line, Masias founded the company Masias Recycling, S.L. which has become a technology reference in the classification and pre-treatment of recyclable materials throughout these years, from the conception to the design, construction and supply of solid urban waste, light containers and construction and demolition waste recycling plants, with the implementation of installations throughout the Spanish territory. By the end of the nineties, the company was awarded the first project for the construction of a solid urban waste treatment plant in the city of Zhuny, which meant the start of its export activity in China. Currently, the company exports to Portugal (where the company has an engineering and project follow-up subsidiary), France, Greece, China (where the company signed a permanent cooperation agreement and a brand licence with a Chinese partner) and Nigeria (where it has signed a cooperation agreement with the regional government of Rivers State).
